City Girl got lost in Pringle Bay
So here I am, my first year living in Pringle Bay celebrations sounding loudly. But it was not supposed to be, I was only going to stay six weeks until I found something ‘more civilized’.
Let’s be real, a Sandton girl moving to Pringle Bay absolutely sounds wrong on all levels. No street lights, dirt roads, baboon fencing, no garbage disposal, to name but a few is no match or fit for the comfort of Sandton luxuries.
But there is no Sandton left in me and by now moving anywhere else is totally unthinkable. I did not move to Pringle Bay, Pringle Bay moved into me! I love sitting on my porch, waving at those walking their dogs, fighting the wind to keep my hair in a ponytail, while staring at the mountains finding the peace I was looking for all my life.
I do not think that there are any words to describe Pringle Bay. At best it can be said that if you need to find you and the true meaning of life search no more.
It is the only place in the world where your habits are noticed, people care. Walk into any shop or restaurant and you will be served what you need without asking.
It is the only place in the world where security is natural. Being surrounded by the mountains is like being tugged snugly into mother’s arms.
It is the only place in the world where silence has a voice, comforting you when life challenges threaten to overwhelm you.
It is the only place in the world where you can watch the buck gracing while enjoying supper yourself.
I live in Pringle Bay!
